Here in the UK we're lucky to have quite a few mountain board centres to learn, practise, improve, compete, and have fun at. Visit them all! South East

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Web: www.haredown.com Facilities: Haredown has 2 boarder x courses- one beginners which heads right from the roll-in and the other with purpose-built start gate ( has also been used for a round of the ATBA-UK National series ). Needless to say it is much bigger and faster than the other one. The centre has 2 large in-line freestyle table tops which finish with a large 1/4 pipe. There is also one flat rail and a rainbow rail, which can be hit by either hipping the last table left or right. As well this they have a large grass slope for beginners with a couple of wooden kickers. There is a tractor and trailer lift back to the top. ----- KnockHill MBC Knockhill MBC is located at the rear of the Knockhatch Ski and Snow board centre, within Knockhatch Adventure park, situated on the A22 to the west of Hailsham. Access to the park is from the A22 at Hailsham from the roundabout OPPOSITE Diplocks Way and the BMW dealership where you will see the welcoming signs for Knockhatch Adventure Park. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Web: www.knockhill-mbc.co.uk Opening times: Weekends from 11am to 5pm and school holidays, Wednesday to Sunday from 11am to 5pm Facilities: Knockhill mbc is a family run centre, with the emphasis on teaching beginners how to ride safely and confidently, and leaning towards jibbing, slopestyle & freestyle fun. They have a nursery slope, a mini boarder x track, rollers, a jib park (which changes and grows a bit every day) with a wide selection of boxes, rails, and inventive features. Two quarter pipes ( 7 foot and 4 foot ) and of course a couple of good sized freestyle tabletops. There's a foam pit too. The centre also has access to the dry-ski slope centre for toilets, a well stocked sports shop and bar which serves food. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Web: www.ridethehill.com Opening times: open Weds - Sun 10am - 6pm for public, 7 days a week during school holidays Facilities: Ride the Hill XBP has everything from a beginners slope complete with beginners rollers, to grass slopes, one classed as blue and the other slightly steeper and longer classed as red. There are two boarder x courses: one beginners and one for more experienced riders, and another run winding through the orchard. There is also a big air jump to the side of the red run and slopestyle course, with rainbow and battleship rails, grind boxes, wall ride and a large quarter pipe to finish. There are also number of small rails, boxes and kickers for beginners to get used to rails and getting air or for some jibbery fun for more advanced riders. The whole centre is served by a drag lift. Now with foam pit too. At the bottom of the hill there is a well kitted-out mountainboard shop which also serves hot and cold drinks, sweets and crisps. There are also a number of picnic benches, bbq area and loos.

----- Southwest Extreme Freeride Park (formerly SWMBC) The BIG Sheep, Abbotsham, Bideford, North Devon, EX39 5AP Contact: 0776 2002 572 web: www.southwestextreme.co.uk Facilities: Now geared mostly to mountainbikes, it still has a Boarder x track with purpose built start gates that has been used for the ATBA-UK National series. They also have slopestyle / jib parks, with a good & monster sized table top (the famous Dead Dog jump) as well a couple of rails, a big 1/4 pipe and a large fun box in the middle of the park. There is also a foam pit to practice tricks into. -----

It has two courses, one for beginners and a small boarder X track, with lots of other features to jib on and give riders plenty of opportunity to progress from straightforward descents to more technical tricks and skills. They also offer a range of lessons from beginner’s to advanced.
West Midlands

Facilities: Bugsboarding is pretty much the home to Maxtrax and team MBS and as result the centre is one of the best in the country. It's features range from the massive WFC's set-up including Northshore drops and beast tables, to a boarder x track, as well as number of small features and rails for riders to take their skills from to beginner to expert. Finishes with a big ol' quarter and there also a uniquely designed foam pit for riders to take their skills even further. Also with rider's lounge, snacks, grass sledges and more, like a mini ramp for skating and on-site camping if you want to make a weekend of it. -----

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Web: www.redhillextreme.co.uk Facilities: This is mainly a mountainbike centre but it did start as a mountainboard centre before getting more involed in the biking scene. So there are lots of things which can be riden by boarders. There is a 4x track, mini boarder X and FreeX cause's and some good sized freestlye jumps. The centre has also held a couple of National 4X events so everything is well maintained.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Web: www.courtfarmleisure.co.uk Facilities: Court Farm is one of the oldest centres in mountainboarding and a as result it is very well established, with two boarder x tracks - onefor beginners and one for experienced riders. The latter is one of the fastest tracks in the country and it has been used for the ATBA-UK National series three years running. Like all the tracks used for the ATBA-UK National series in the last two years it has got purpose built start gates. At the bottom of the hill there is a good sized slopestlye with a range of table tops of different sizes and a large 1/4 pipe to finish with. There is also a beginners area towards the bottom of the hill and a superb farm shop a short walk from the hill. Up lift is provided by truck and trailer.

Facilities: Out To Grass is one of the most developed of all the mountainboard centres in the UK. Its facilities range from a good sized beginner slope nearest to the reception and cafe, to one of the best and the biggest slopestyle courses in the country. Next to slopestlye course there is the Boarder x track which while not steep offers good riding for all levels of rider. After all, how fast you go is more often about how you pump the rollers than how steep a track is. Towards the bottom the boarder x the track splits into three, one line is a free cross track, the line in the middle is a bit more jibby with some boxes and north shore type features and the last line is a traditional boardcross with large berms. In between the slopestlye course and the boardercross is the Mountain Bike park with a number of different lines with big doubles, hips and wallride. On the far side of the centre is the grass snake run which winds way the slope. Like most centres up lift is provided by a truck and trailer. There is also camping, a toilet block plus showers and purpose built fire pits if want to make a couple of days of it.

Facilities:As well as spectacular views across Derbyshire KMC offers everything from beginner areas with rails, kickers and ramps to a FreeX course, boarderX course, tabletops, grinding rails and freestyle park for the experienced rider. ----- North
Hales Superbole Superbole, Harthill nr Tattenhall, Bolesworth estate, Chester, CH3 9LQ Contact: 01829 782977 Web: www.halessuperbole.co.uk Facilities: Hales superbole hosted the last round of the 2008 ATBA-UK National series and as a result as a decent 4 man boardercross course with start gates. It also has a good sized slopestyle park (which uniquely has its drop in ramp from the top of the centre building) with a couple of good sized table tops. There also a small jib park which has a wall ride, mini 1/4 pipe and lots other features to bonk, tap and grind. For beginners there is a good sized grassy slope to practice their carving and mini 2 man boardercross to help them build up their confidence. If you want to leave the energy saving up -lift tractor behind and explore the woods behind the centre you find a couple of trails which should keep freeriders happy. There's lots of sweet rails and mini-jumps and 3 northshore drops of differing sizes leading to the choice of big air jumps, with a quarter to finish. There is also a recently completed mini-ramp for skating and trampoline for practise. As result has a very well developed 4 man boardercross track and two well shaped large table tops for freestyle. There is also a beginners slope, mini boardercross track and a couple of smaller table tops for beginners to practice their freestyle on. ----- ScotlandPerth Public Mountainboard Park St Magdalene’s Hill, Perth, Scotland Contact: St Magdalene’s Hill Community Steering group Facilities: Perth public Mountainboard park is the first free-to-use mountainboard park. It has a 4 man boardercross track, slopestlye park with a good sized table top as well a couple of other hits and some grind rails. There is also a rough country track for beginners.

A number of different 'tracks' ranging from slalom to freestyle with lots of different obstacles f or you to tackle.

Beginners have the opportunity to learn and develop skills on the nursery slope, while more advanced riders will enjoy the long carving runs, jumps and features on the main hill.
