Round 3! BX & freestyle @ Haredown

ATBA10round3

The ATBA-UK series continued in fine fashion at at the turn of the month despite the usual threats from the British weather. Piers Sutton, one of the many junior riders ( & wannabe pros) was there competing; One of our youngest contributors yet at only 12 years old, he brings us a short rave report from the event, while his fellow competitor (& mate) Paddy Goddard provides photos of the boardercross & freestyle action…

Round 3 at Haredown was the best competition ever! and the best thing- it was the first dry comp of the season so far...

The boarder x was sick, a really fun course running fast. The atmosphere was amazin’, riders having fun, loads of people around the edges of the track with cameras, and even the commentator was having a great time- well funny with some of the things he was saying.

The track was running nice considering it was raining a lot the night before and made for some really exciting races. Competition in the juniors was hot, while the open & masters showed off their experience with some dramatic, adrenaline-fuelled action.

When the night came, everyone was making fires and all that but fair do’s- Team Bad made THE bad-ass fire, absolutely massive, and people were fire breathing and more, it was so cool!

Next day it was freestyle and what a day it was. Everyone was just riding their hearts out and having a fun time, doing their best rotations, flips & grabs. Some of the crazier stuff people (ie the pro’s) were trying were 900’s and corked 720’s (amazing). Lisa Mclernon and a few others did their first backflips in competition (well done!), there were no major injuries luckily, and all the mountainboard riding was great for spectators and for those of us competing.
