Portugese Try out Session

In Portugal we have a small riding community, so to promote the sport we organize events that we call "Mountainboard Try-Out-Day"! The main purpose is to give the chance of riding to new people who want to try it. These kind of events are sponsored by 02Elementos and Trampa Boards, who have kindly provided some boards for people to use.

The most recent event took place on Saturday (27th of September 2008). 9 o'clock in the morning we arrive to coffee and take the breakfast; after some time talking about things we decide to leave and go to 'the Spot' at Cedinho, in the Sintra region. When we arrive, some people start work doing some cleaning-up jobs and assemble a new jump.

Meanwhile, people start to arrive and explanations are given to the newbies about security, safety and how a Mountainboard works. Some people come from Kitelandboarding and others from Snowboarding, so some are at a boarding advantage.

With all the people learning and trying new stuff during the morning, lunchtime comes quick!

After that, more people appear; more talk and practise with the newbies pushing the limits (for a newbie, of course). The day is a scorcher (about 29c) and everyone is riding in the hot sun.

At the end of the day, the mission is accomplished: we have some new riders and everyone loved their first try of mountainboarding. Now that the season really starts for us, we will try to organize another event of this kind to bring more people to the sport in our part of the world.
